Adoptive Mom Helping to Bring Home One Child at a Time

Adoptive Mom Helping to Bring Home One Child at a Time

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) February 10, 2006

With actresses Meg Ryan and Angelina Jolie in the spotlight adopting children internationally, adoption is becoming a household word. One not so famous adoptive mom is happy to see more interest in adoption and has dedicated herself to making a difference in the world one child at a time.

Her name is Robin Bartko of Elkridge, MD and she and her husband have started a new web site, http://www.ThinkingOfAdopting.com, to help people who are considering adoption. Her mission — to help more children get homes by providing information and inspiration to prospective adoptive parents.

ThinkingOfAdopting.com is unique in the world of adoption web sites because it allows prospective parents to talk live with adoptive parents and experts, providing them with personal answers to their questions from the privacy of their home. Robin says, “You just can’t get the same level of insight and information from e-mails and web postings as you can by talking live with others who have been through the process.”

She is currently holding “Adoption Help Sessions” along with adoption telecourses and webinars on topics including medical aspects of international adoption, financing adoption, and attachment. The “Adoption Help Sessions” and many of the telecoures are being offered free of charge. To register, go to http://www.ThinkingOfAdopting.com.

Robin Bartko found that the most useful information during her adoption process was not necessarily given to her from adoption agencies. The most useful information came from other adoptive parents and the adoption community. Robin herself admits, “If it wasn’t for a few wonderful adoptive parents who helped me, I am not sure I would have had the courage to take the leap of faith and adopt my son.” She wants to help families learn more about adoption from the real experts — adoptive parents.

Robin will help people learn more about adopting any country that is of interest to them. Robin says, “Once you have been to an orphanage or have seen a local foster care program, you realize what a need there is for these kids to get homes of their own”. No one knows how many orphans are in the world, but it is estimated well over 100 million.

International Adoption Stories Launches New Web Directory Aimed at Growing Adoption Community

International Adoption Stories Launches New Web Directory Aimed at Growing Adoption Community

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) November 30, 2005

InternationalAdoptionStories.com has launched a new international adoption directory of personal adoption stories, agency advice, medical information, parenting tips, adoption news and assistance with adoption expenses.

The Internet is a growing resource for prospective parents looking for information about adoption, but much of it can be misleading or inaccurate. InternationalAdoptionStories.com created a trusted resource to help guide people through the process. InternationalAdoptionStories.com is a clearinghouse of information and stories provided for prospective parents, adoptive parents, adoptees, their friends and family as well as adoption professionals.

“Prospective parents go through a great deal of scrutiny by the U.S. government, the adoption authority in the desired country and by their adoption agency. People are required to gather hundreds of pages of information, go through extensive background checks, adhere to strict guidelines and take mandatory parenting classes,” said International Adoption Stories Executive Director John R. Wall. “It’s easy for people to get lost in the deluge without a resource to help guide them through and provide information about the process. InternationalAdoptionStories.com provides that resource.”

International Adoption is a great option for singles and couples looking to open their homes to a child. Over 21,800 children will be adopted internationally in 2005 with over 7,906 of them coming from mainland China. That is an increase of over 156% from China since 2002 alone.

For additional information about InternationalAdoptionStories.com please contact John Wall or visit http://www.InternationalAdoptionStories.com.

InternationalAdoptionStories.com was founded by John R. Wall and Susan Morrison Wall in 2005. The site pulls information from adoption professionals and the experience of other adoptive parents to create an adoption resource and to educate and enhance the understanding of adoption.
